Special Message:

The rising cost of healthcare is a national concern. The national news and healthcare organizations are now pressing the message of prevention recognizing the financial impact that poor health and disease has on the American economy.

MCIT is following this national trend by making information, tools and resources available to MCIT member organizations on health promotion and disease prevention through its LiveWell website.

Companies across the country are willing to assist clients in developing a health promotion program but always for a cost. MCIT already provides risk management advice relative to property, casualty and workers’ compensation exposures. LiveWell is simply MCIT applying its risk management skills to helping its member organization manage the health of their employees thereby mitigating financial losses to your organization.

Even with the introduction of health spending accounts (HSAs), Voluntary Employee Benefits Association (VEBAs) and cafeteria and flexible spending plans, MCIT members report they continue to struggle with the rising cost of employee health insurance. Employees find themselves obligated to assume more of the expense of their health insurance including paying higher premium and co-pays and changes in their benefits and network. Other county concerns such as levy limits, medical inflation, collective bargaining agreements and other economic factors put even more pressure on employer and employee wallets.

No doubt the idea of starting a “new program” in your organization when you are already strapped for money seems counter intuitive but it may be an effective way to manage costs next year or the year after.

The tools and resources provided in this website were created with the intent to be modified to fit your organization’s culture and needs. You have the ability to pick and choose what resources and tools you want to use and how you will use them depending on the scope, goals and budget of your wellness program.

We encourage you to try out these tools and resource and provide us feedback. We also invite you to share your ideas, your pitfalls and your successes.
