The rising cost of health care is a national concern. The national news and health care organizations
are now pressing the message of prevention recognizing the financial impact that poor health and
disease has on the American economy.
MCIT is following this national trend with its LiveWell initiative. LiveWell is a value-added informational
service for MCIT members only.
Companies across the country are willing to assist clients in developing health promotion program but
always for a cost. MCIT already provides risk management advice relative to property, casualty and workers’
compensation exposures. LiveWell is simply MCIT applying its risk management skills to helping member
organizations manage the health of their employees thereby mitigating financial losses to the county.
No doubt the idea of starting a “new program” in your organization when dollars and resources are scarce
seems counter intuitive but it may help you manage costs in the years to come.
Wellness does NOT have to be expensive. The resources found under the Understanding Wellness and
Building Support sections of this website will help you understand the merits of health promotion.
The Choosing Activities and Evaluating Effectiveness
sections of this website will help generate ideas
for your wellness program. Health and wellness related activities give you the tools to implement and
monitor the activities that make the most sense for your organization. The Controlling Risks section
of this site will raise awareness of the types of activities that expose your organization to risk and
offer tips for considering and managing legal risks that may be associated with wellness programs and
activities.
MCIT members with a commitment to the health and wellbeing of their employees will have access to
all the new products and resources being developed by MCIT for LiveWell. Click here to register for a
